I have used this method for zeroing red dot equipped carbines since 2007. To truly zero a carbine you need a good group. (with decent ammo in a decent carbine you should be able to shoot well under a 1" group at 50 yards) With a red dot on a carbine it can be difficult to see well enough to aim well enough at 50 yards (try aiming at a 1" target with a dot at 50 yards) to get a good zero so I developed this method to get a 50/200 yard zero at 10 yards.  If done correctly it works very well and can be done very quickly.  Follow the instructions on the downloadable target and you will be golden!  NOTE: this target was designed around a 5.56 carbine with an optic that is mounted with the center of the optic 2.8" from the center of the bore.  Standard height (non 1.92) red dot optics.

To download target add it to your cart and go through the check-out process.  It is free and you do not have to enter credit card info.  You will be emailed a link to download and print the target as a PDF. Good Target

Had to adjust printer for the squares to have 2" sides. Great product, excellent customer service.

Red dot ten yd sight in target

Very cool and free, thank you!

10 yard zero

Works great, espeacially if you need a quick zero, hits at 50 spot on needs minor adjustments at 200. Thankyou for doing the math, very cool product.

10 Yard Carbine Zero Target

This target design was well thought out and is very easy to use. The 50 Yd/200 Yd zero is perfect for the AR carbine and at 100 Yds I was about 1.75" high. Good enojugh for government work. I would suggest that you measure the height of your red dot (the dot itself, not the sight) over center of the bore, as some manufacturers do not follow the standard of 2.8". I like this target. My only change, if I could do so, would be placing horizontal and vertical lines .5" apart for easy determination of needed adjustment. Thanks to Frank Proctor for this target.

10 yard carbine zero target

I teach both civilian and law enforcement firearms classes. Just used these targets in a LEO class taught in Woodstock, VT and they worked great. We were able to quickly get or confirm student zeroes. We were able than to move to the 50 yard line and fine tune them quickly. Even though students are instructed to arrive with a zeroed rifle, they don't always and if not done, the rest of the day will be challenging. Great product and kudos to Frank for giving out the download free. Finally, I have shot with Frank and highly recommend you take a class. Great dude with lots of information to share!
